Sergeant killed in IAF copter crash: AFP

An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh, killing an airman and seriously wounding four others, an IAF spokesman said in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The MI-17 chopper was on a routine sortie to drop essential commodities in remote villages near the border with China, when it crashed into a hillside.

"An IAF sergeant was killed and four others badly injured," the spokesman said, adding that the precise cause of the crash was unknown.

On Monday, two fighter pilots were killed when two MIG-21 planes collided mid-air in neighbouring Assam.
