Kulsoom's meeting thwarted;
PML workers thrashed

Military authorities thwarted a meeting called by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif's wife Kulsoom Nawaz in Lahore as police roughed up Pakistan Muslim League workers gathered to attend the meeting.

Police blocked every street leading to the venue where Kulsoom Nawaz was expected to attend the meeting on Sunday, forcing the workers to leave the place before her arrival.

The deposed prime minister's wife alleged that police resorted to brutal lathi-charge when PML workers tried to reach her vehicle on her arrival at the venue.

"I have never witnessed such a horrific action in my life," she said referring to the force used by the military regime.

Condemning the brutal use of force on her supporters, she said only after dodging a heavy contingent of police deployed around her residence since morning, she managed to reach the venue of meeting.

"The authorities have restricted people's movement around my house," Kulsoom said adding she was not ready to accept illegal restrictions and nobody could stop her from meeting people.
