At least three persons, including a security official, were injured in a blast outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning, official sources said in New Delhi.

The explosion took place at 1155 hours (IST), personnel at the Tilak Marg police station said. However, they did not specify the cause of the explosion.

Three fire tenders and an equal number of ambulances had been rushed to the spot, Delhi Fire Service sources said. The three injured people had been hospitalised.

According to preliminary reports, the explosion occurred on the Bhagwan Das Road outside the Supreme Court.

Senior police officers have rushed to the spot.

Sources at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where two of the injured were admitted, said they had sustained minor burns.

The two were identified as Kanha Ram, a head constable of the Central Industrial Security Force, and Santosh, a 22-year-old youth.

Kanha Ram had burn marks on his legs, while Santosh was singed on the hands.

Stating that the injuries were not serious, the sources said the two would be discharged after first aid.
