Six injured in police firing in Bihar

At least six people were injured when police opened fire to disperse an irate mob which violated the curfew imposed since Monday morning following mounting tension over the construction of a temple in Biharsharif town of Nalanda district.

Official sources said in Patna that the mob had gathered near the Maisasur locality, Amber More, Nalanda College and Nai Sarak.

Soon after the firing, the mob torched some shops near Krishi Bazar Samati at Ramchandrapur. The injured were taken to hospitals.

State director-general of police K A Jacob and senior police officers are camping in the town. Para-military forces, Bihar military police and Rapid Action Force personnel were patrolling the area to prevent further violence.
