6 CPI-ML men killed by ultras in Bihar

At least six Communist Party of India-Marxists-Leninist supporters were killed in an encounter with extremists of the Peoples War Group under Punpun police station area in Patna district on Monday.

State home secretary U N Panjiyar said that the deceased belonged to a weaker section of society. He said the victims were Vineshwar Paswan, Raj Kishore, Bihari Choudhary and Arvind Paswan. Two others have not yet been identified.

Police said that the extremists attacked Barepura, Shabajpur and Mehndipur villages and the six supporters were killed in subsequent encounters.

CPI-ML state office in-charge Prabhat Kumar condemned the killings. He accused the PWG and Ranvir Sena of eliminating the poor in an organised manner.

''The PWG and Ranvir Sena are the most serious stumbling blocks in the state's development,'' he said and alleged that the groups had been transformed into hired goons of the state government and feudal forces.
