The death toll in the crash of a Singapore Airlines jet at Taiwan's international airport rose to 81 on Thursday, aviation officials said.

"Prosecutors confirmed there are 79 bodies at the airport and so far two had died in hospitals," a coordination said.

He added 40 people were still hospitalised.

The bodies of some 30 victims had been identified.

Earlier figures released by the Civil Aeronautics Administration had said 76 people died instantly and three others died in hospital from their injuries, including a pregnant woman.
