Charges against Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and husband Laloo Prasad Yadav in the Rs 42 lakh disproportionate asset case could not be framed on Saturday morning as their lawyer sought a day's time. The hearing will now be held on May 29.

Rabri and Laloo appeared in the court of Central Bureau of Investigation special judge S K Lal.

The court accepted the plea that he represents Rabri at all hearings.

The charge was to be framed last week, but Rabri sought time as she was busy with the Raghopur by-election.

The Patna High Court, while granting provisional bail to Laloo on May 10, had asked the CBI to frame charges within a month. It also called for the completion of trial within six months.

Rabri and Laloo reached court early morning. Ministers, party leaders and supporters, who shouted slogans against the Vajpayee government, followed them.

The party leaders blamed BJP leaders for harassing the ruling couple on the eve of the by-election.
