Dalit massacre: RJD legislator's relative held

A close relative of a Rashtriya Janata Dal legislator, Prahalad Yadav, and two others were arrested in connection with the killing of 11 labourers by a criminal gang near the Kuil river early yesterday.

Superintendent of Police M S Mazid said in Lakhisarai today that a case has been registered against 15 named accused and 30 others by the family members of a victim.

He said more accused persons would be nabbed soon, as information about their whereabouts has been received.

The toll in the massacre rose to 11 today, when one of the critically injured persons died of his injuries in hospital.

District Magistrate Avinash Kumar said the district administration had already distributed Rs 100,000 as ex-gratia to each affected family apart from other compensation, including 15 days' free ration.

Meanwhile, a report said Union Telecommunications Minister Ram Vilas Paswan would visit the affected village tomorrow morning along with other politicians of the National Democratic Alliance.
