Sudershan makes a pitch for swadeshiRashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief K S Sudershan has asked Sangh cadres to combat the invasion of western economic patterns with an indigenous one. Speaking at a function in Allahabad last night, Sudershan said developed nations were imposing an exploitative economic system on India and were intruding into its markets. Sudershan said, "Today, 80 per cent of the market and capital is controlled by developed countries. We have to rise to fight this injustice." He asked RSS volunteers to spread the concept of swadeshi to give a new vision to development. This would also check the entry of multinationals in the country, he said. The RSS chief said the Sangh's greatest asset was the confidence of those within it. This was the result of years of selfless service. He criticised all those who had tried to create confusion in society by labelling RSS as an organisation of fundamentalists. "When we talk of Hindu culture, we talk about nation and society. Spiritual consciousness is needed to build a nation; it cannot be brought by artificial means," he said. Sudershan asked Indian Muslims to acknowledge India as their motherland and join the mainstream to help build a strong nation. "We have to build our own model of development which suited our country and society. The village-oriented model is the best in this regard," he said. Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth Swami Basudevanand Saraswati, former RSS chief Prof Rajendra Singh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad working president Ashok Singhal were also present at the function. |
