E-Mail this report to a friend

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked his officials to ensure that the ex-gratia payments owed to the super cyclone victims are made before April 10.

Patnaik, who visited the worst affected Ersama block on Saturday, also directed the district administration to accelerate the relief and reconstruction work.

He warned that his government would not tolerate any delay in the implementation of relief and rehabilitation.

The chief minister distributed old age pension, loans and pump sets to the cyclone victims and made a surprise visit to some retail shops in Ambiki village.

He asked the district officials to prepare specific programmes keeping in mind the need of the affected people.

MLA Dr Damodar Rout, Panchayat Raj Secretary Chinmaya Basu and Jagatsinghpur District Collector Sarbeswar Mahanty accompanied him to Ersama.
