E-Mail this report to a friend

Counter-terrorism experts from India will visit London to discuss concrete measures of cooperation with their British counterparts to deal with terrorism, particularly Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir.

At a news conference in London last evening, Home Minister L K Advani said Britain and India have agreed to further strengthen and intensify cooperation in efforts to combat terrorism.

"The British government shares our concern with regard to the menace of international terrorism and the importance of dealing with it in a coordinated and concerted manner," he said.

Advani who met British Home Secretary Jack Straw and Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, also had a detailed briefing at Scotland Yard on the British approach to handling terrorist operations.

The minister, who has visited Israel and France and discussed ways of tackling international terrorism, said: "Our effort will be not only to promote widespread cooperation among countries to combat the global scourge of international terrorism but also to highlight dangers of state-sponsorship of such terrorism."
