Mild tremors in Nagpur, Chandrapur

Chandrapur and Nagpur in Vidarbha region experienced mild tremors yesterday between 1542 hours and 1547 hours, the Regional Meteorological Centre said in Nagpur today.

The epicentre of the quake was 40 km south-west of Chandrapur and 111 km from Nagpur. The latitude of the epicentre of the quake was 19.9 degrees north and longitude, 78.9 degrees east. The centre is estimated to be located some were between Rajura and Gadchandur.

The centre stated that the intensity of the quake as slight and was recorded between one and four on the Richter scale.

No destruction has been reported so far from any part of the region. However, in Chandrapur district, people rushed out of their houses after noticing their furniture shaking vigorously.
