Facing opposition from families, lovers commit suicideSwapna Khanna in New Delhi In a shocking incident, two youngsters committed suicide after their respective families opposed their marriage plans. Engineering student Sandeep (19), apparently, shot dead Sunila (21), a Masters on Business Administration student, before turning the revolver on himself inside a parked Maruti Zen at Kaushalya Park in the Hauz Khas precinct of New Delhi on Monday night. Deepak, a relative, said, "Sandeep did speak to his father about Sunila a few days back. Initially, the latter did have reservations about the relationship, but later he accepted it. I don't know what compelled Sandeep to take such a drastic step." "On Monday evening, Sandeep had gone to visit his grandmother in Kalkaji, south Delhi, along with his parents, sister Shweta and maid Vimla. On reaching there, he excused himself saying he had a party to attend. His father asked him to take the car. Sandeep refused, saying friends would pick him up. That was the last time his parents saw him alive," another relative revealed. "Nobody in the family had a hint that Sandeep was going to meet Sunila," the relative added. DCP (south Delhi) Sudhir Yadav said the autopsy revealed some week-old cut marks on Sandeep's left arm, indicating that he had tried cutting his veins. Vimla confirmed that Sandeep and his father had had a quarrel some time ago. Sandeep's father was furious and shouted at him. In anger, 'Sandeep bhaiya tried to cut his left arm', she said. The bodies were discovered in the car by Anil, a cleaner. He reported the matter to Ashok Garg, for whom he works. "I then informed the police," Garg said. The windows had been rolled up and the doors locked from within. The police had to break open the door. A suicide note was found in the dashboard. It said that both were fed up with the world, so they were committing suicide. And nobody should be held responsible for it. Sandeep had a bullet injury on the right side of his skull, Sunila on the left side, right above her eyes. Sources said only two bullets shells were recovered inside the car. Both the chamber and the magazine of the weapon recovered from the spot were empty. Bloodstains were also found on the lower part of the door on the driver's side. Inquiries revealed that the car was parked sometime after 10 on Monday night. The car is registered in the name of a Gurgaon resident, Rajnish Arya, who works for a multinational bank and was known to Sandeep. Sandeep and Sunila are both residents of Rohini, a suburb in Delhi. Sandeep was doing engineering from YMCA (Faridabad) and had finished his second semester exams on Saturday. Sunila was pursuing a MBA course in an institute in Rohini.
