The Central Bureau of Investigation this morning filed a chargesheet against Laloo Yadav and his wife, Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, in the disproportionate assets case.

After framing the charges, Judge Sudanshu Kumar Lal of the CBI's special court gave the duo time to go in appeal to a higher court.

Both Laloo and Rabri have pleaded not guilty in the case.

The next hearing is scheduled to be held on July 4.

The day did not dawn well for the couple, for in the morning they received a jolt from the income tax authorities as well.

Income tax officer J Sahay, who is looking into the couple's wealth, has stated that Laloo and his wife had concealed facts about their income. Sahay further stated that the couple have to pay Rs 5.3 million to the authorities in pending tax and penalties.

The bank deposits and all other accounts held by Laloo's family has been frozen. In fact, the salary drawn by Rabri Devi as the CM has also been sealed, sources said.
