Bihar police stir called offOur Correspondent in Patna The Bihar Police Association has withdrawn its seven-day mass casual leave stir following an agreement with the state government late on Wednesday evening. According to BPA general K K Jha, the strike was called off following the acceptance of its major demands. Besides, the state government revoked the suspension order of 300 junior officials and Jha's dismissal order. Eighteen thousand inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors were on week-long mass casual leave to press for the implementation of their 13-point charter of demands. It seems the state government was worried that the Bihar Police Service Association, the union of deputy superintendents of police and assistant superintendents of police and the Bihar Police Men Association, the body of constables and havaldars, would join the stir. The government also agreed to immediately pay compensation to family members of policemen killed in encounters. Besides, it restored payment of vehicle allowances of Rs 500-800. According to BPA joint secretary Sunil Kumar the notification is likely to be issued tomorrow.
