Sharief sentenced to 14 years in corruption case

The Ehtesab [accountability] court at Attock on Saturday awarded 14 years imprisonment to former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharief on a charge of corruption.

The case arose from Sharief's secret acquisition of a helicopter, which he failed to disclose in his income-tax returns.

The sentence also carries a 21-year bar from holding public office.
