SC rejects plea to quash charges in urea scam

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Supreme Court dismissed on Tuesday a petition by Prakash Chandra Yadav, son of former Union minister Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav, against a high court order upholding the framing of charges against him by the trial court in the Rs 1.33 billion urea import scandal.

The petition, by special leave, was dismissed by a division bench comprising Justice K T Thomas and Justice R P Sethi when it came up for preliminary hearing.

The judges declined to interfere with the high court order and observed, "You better get an order of acquittal from the trial court."
