CBI gets a notice on Chadha's custodyThe Delhi high court today issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation on a petition filed by former Bofors agent Win Chadha, challenging lower court's order which prevented him from going to Dubai for medical treatment. Justice R S Sodhi said the reply must be filed by August 1. Chadha has been charge-sheeted by the CBI and the trial is pending before Special Judge Ajit Bharihoke. Chadha was involved in the Rs 1,437 crore 155 mm Howitzer gun deal in which Swedish company Bofors allegedly paid Rs 64 crore as kickbacks. A medical certificate issued on November 17 last year by Dr V S Ranawat of Ramada Medical Centre in Dubai says Chadha needs medical pacing facilities every two weeks. The 77-year-old Chadha returned to India on March 21 after Bharihoke issued arrest warrants against him on February 3. The judge had ordered Chadha's examination by a panel of doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The doctors certified that he could be treated in India. UNI
