Politician's home bombed in Kashmir

E-Mail this report to a friend

Separatist guerrillas raided a politician's home in Kashmir on Thursday, even as three people died overnight in separate incidents in the northern state, the police said.

Police officials in Srinagar said the attack and the killings took place in the Jammu district in southern Kashmir.

Unidentified gunmen hurled a hand grenade at the house of Muzaffar Beg, a provincial leader of the Congress party in Jammu, injuring a police guard, the officials said.

Beg was not at home at the time of the attack.

Indian troops on Kashmir's borders killed two cross-border rebels in Jammu's frontier town of Kathua, the officials said, adding that the wife of a "hardcore" militant was gunned down in a separate incident by the police.
