Vajpayee undergoes operation for cataract

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee underwent an operation on Sunday for cataract in his left eye at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

According to hospital sources, Vajpayee was admitted to the AIIMS at 10 am and the operation lasted about half an hour.

A team of eye specialists from the Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences from the hospital, attended to the prime minister.

Vajpayee was discharged from hospital about an hour after the operation, sources said.

He was operated for cataract in his right eye at the institute sometime back.
