Faleiro is new leader of Oppn in Goa: PTI

He took charge of his new office on Friday.

Faleiro was recognised as leader of the Opposition by Speaker Pratapsingh Rane, with effect from December 21, sources said.

He succeeds Francisco Sardinha, also a former chief minister.

Sardinha resigned after the strength of his Goa Peoples Congress Party was reduced to three in the 40-member state legislative assembly following a recent split in the party.

Faleiro is also leader of the Congress Legislature Party, which is the single largest Opposition party having a strength of 11 members in the state assembly.
