8 Hindi-speaking persons
killed in central Assam

In another strike on the Bihari community in Assam, eight persons, including one woman and three children, were killed by unidentified persons in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Thursday evening, the police said in Guwahati.

The armed extremists raided Rongnagar village, about seven km from Bokolia outpost, under Howraghat police station and opened fire killing the eight persons on the spot, the sources said.

District Superintendent of Police and other civil and police officials have rushed to the spot with reinforcements.

Assam has been rocked by militant attacks on Hindi-speaking non-Assamese community for the last two months. Over 100 persons have been killed in such attacks.
