Armed intruder tries
to enter Laloo's house

Our Correspondent in Patna

An armed intruder was arrested by security personnel about 50 yards from the residence of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi at around 07:00 hours IST on Thursday.

Rabri Devi is the wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Dilip Kumar Nirala, with a pistol, wanted to enter the chief minister's residence, to lodge a complaint. When security personnel on duty objected, he tried to force himself in.

A shot was fired in the scuffle, but no one was injured.

Nirala later told newsmen that he was to appear before the chief minister as his wife was abducted and father and uncle eliminated by some people in Sitamarhi district. He said that he came with pistol to commit suicide if his plea was not heeded.

He also claimed that he was an RJD worker and wanted to contest the panchayat elections.

According to the police, Nirala, who appears to be mentally deranged, had the pistol with only one bullet loaded.
