Bihar officers to go on indefinite strike from ThursdayMembers of the Bihar Administrative Service Association remained firm on their decision to go on an indefinite strike from Thursday. Over 2,600 members of the BASA have been on mass casual leave since August 24 in support of their charter of demands, including revision of pay structure. BASA president W N Singh and general secretary G L Das said on Wednesday that the decision to go on indefinite strike was taken by the broad-based committee of the BASA on August 28. The two leaders slammed the state government for not inviting BASA representatives for talks after those with Chief Secretary V S Dubey broke down on August 24. They urged other service associations of government employees to support the BASA since its demands - better basic grade pay scales, raising the age of retirement from 58 to 60 years and charting out service conditions on the pattern of Central government employees - were common to all.
