Top militant among seven ultras killed in Jammu: PTI

A top militant belonging to Azhar Masood's Jaish-e-Mohamad outfit was among seven ultras killed in Jammu division since Monday night, official sources said here Tuesday.

Security forces killed two militants during an encounter in Garang village in Sabjian sector of Poonch district Monday night and one of them was identified as Shaheen Daga, Jiash-e-Mohamad coordinator for Poonch and Surankote and a close confidant of Azhar Masood.

A large quantity of propaganda material carrying Masood's signature was recovered from the slain militants, sources said.

One more militant was killed in the same sector Tuesday.

Three militants were killed in Chandok village of Poonch district Tuesday. Three AK-47 rifles and six rucksacks were recovered from the slain militants, whose identity was being ascertained, the sources said.

Meanwhile, reports from Kathua said four militants infiltrated from the international border into Regal area Monday night. Troops challenged them and killed one.

Two militants, who managed to escape, were arrested in Hiranagar area of Kathua district Tuesday. The search for the other militant was continuing, the sources added.
