Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad-bound Bhagyanagar Express derailed near Asifabad town, about 300 km north of the state capital, on Monday morning. Five persons sustained injuries in the mishap, South Central Railways spokesman officer Michael Fredericks said.

The spokesman said the train proceeding from Sirpur-Kagaznagar in Adilabad district to Hyderabad derailed at around 4.30 am. Six coaches next to the engine and eight other coaches jumped the rails. However, there was no loss of lives in the mishap.

A relief train has already left for the accident spot. SCR general manager and other top officials have also left for Asifabad with a medical team.
