E-Mail this report to a friend

The army and police, in a joint operation, have arrested Naoboicha college principal Jiten Bhuyan on charges of having links with the United Liberation Front of Asom.

According to a defence release in Guwhati, the principal was maintaining close links with Subansiri Anchalik Parishad action group commander Prabin Kalit. A think-tank of the ulfa, he was said to be the ideological force of the banned outfit.

The army and police officers raided his house and seized incriminating documents and a letter written by the ULFA commander. During interrogation he confessed to having links with the ULFA, adding that he had harboured militants at his house.
