Russia keen to see India become powerful: envoyIndia is playing a major role in dealing with global issues and this role will enhance in future, said Russia's envoy to India, Alexander Kadakin, on vacation in Moscow. Talking to Voice of Russia correspondent Natalya Benukh, he dwelt on the two countries' commonality of views on burning questions such as overcoming international terrorism. China also sides with them and the voice of these three states on international problems cannot be ignored by the global community, he said. Kadakin, who is assisting the Kremlin prepare key documents to be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's Delhi visit, beginning October 2, spoke of his country's keenness to see India as a powerful state. New Delhi and Moscow are continuing intensive dialogue on drafts of agreements to be signed during the summit. During a recent visit to Moscow, Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh, Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Defence Minister George Fernandes met the Russian head of state. Kadakin said that the Kudankulam nuclear power station project will comprise a major part of the documents for consideration at the New Delhi meeting. The two countries have discussed Russian participation in renovating power stations built in India with Soviet collaboration. Russia is also looking for Indian investment in developing oil and gas fields. UNI
