Kumaramangalam's condition deteriorates

The condition of Union Power Minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, diagnosed to be suffering from blood cancer, deteriorated on Tuesday morning with unstable circulatory status. He was not responding to treatment, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Medical Superintendent R K Sharma said.

"The general condition of Kumaramangalam has deteriorated with circulatory instability and hypertension, unresponsive to treatment," Dr Sharma said.

He said the minister continues to be given full life-support measures and his condition was being monitored by a team of specialists comprising Prof J N Pande, Prof S C Manchanda, Prof Chandralekha, Prof K K Talwar and Dr R Guleria. .

On Monday, Kumaramangalam had shown some signs of improvement in his circulatory status.

Kumaramangalam was admitted to AIIMS on August 12 for routine check-ups after suffering from an undiagnosed chronic fever for over three months. His condition worsened on August 15 after he suffered multi-organ failure and was revived after two cardiac arrests the following day.
