'The article on Major Saravanan moved me to tears'

Subject: `I am proud my son was the first officer to be martyred and the last to come back.'

A very well-written feature. Do you have Major Saravanan's mother's address? I would like to write to her.

The article brought tears to my eyes. Could we have the heoic tales of some of the other war heroes of Kargil and other wars? This could help the youth in India realise that they are safe thanks to all these men who opted for a more difficult way of life so as to guard the borders of the nation.

An excellent article. It proves how much Indians love their motherland.

The article on Major Saravanan moved me to tears. I salute Major Saravanan and the others who laid down their lives for our country.

This article brought tears to my eyes. Every Indian should feel proud of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our sake. Our nation is indeed great to have given birth to such heroes. I will be extremely happy if you could forward me the mailing address of Major Saravanan so that I can pay my respects to that great family by writing a few words to them. I once again pay my tributes to all those Kargil heroes who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.

May their souls rest in peace.

In the future, could you please include the mailing address of brave soldiers like Major Saravanan when you write features on them? I would love to send Major Saravanan's family a small note paying my tributes to the brave man.

India needs a Manekshaw at this juncture and I am sure General Padmanabhan will excel in his efforts to bring all the forces under one umbrella and increase their efficiency and performance. The pettiness in the armed forces and the general deterioration in standards has led to many resignations of good, honest officers. I hope General Padmanabhan can set things straight. We wish him well and hope one day we can see peace in India and not pieces of India.

I would like to make some donation to the Hospice. Can you mail me Father Varghese's e-mail address?

Nandy is a good columnist and I cannot but agree with what he says here. It hurts to see that the masses don't agree to these facts.

If Ram Jethmalani has broken the Oath of Secrecy, then he should be punished. Only then will such incidents not happen in the future.

Brilliant though he may be, Ram Jethmalani has contributed most to exploiting the loopholes in the law. What is the use of such brilliance? We should be guided by prudence in what is good for the country rather than by fear of consequences.

No doubt the PM is very bust but I still feel that he could have spared some time for Jethmalani.

Subject: War of words

Rajiv Shukla's article is good but he should go into more details. I too agree with him that the VHP and the Bajrang Dal are behind this. As far as the role of Vajpayee or the so-called secular leaders are concerned, they have only one agenda. They won't support the killings by the VHP and the Bajrang Dal but they will take their help in the elections and in every other matter too, albeit covertly. This is sheer hypocrisy. Yes, the ISI may be behind these attacks too but who was it that instigated Dara Singh to kill Staines? Who are those who killed father Thomas Hansda in Ranchi? Who are those who practice the caste system?

These organisations cannot do any significant work. These are a bunch of unscrupulous people coming to defend their so-called version of Hinduism.
