Gopal yet to confirm meeting with Veerappan

E-Mail this report to a friend

Fugitive Veerappan kept Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments guessing as there was no information till Sunday evening on whether he had accepted the actions taken by both the states on his demands for the release of Kannada film icon Dr Rajakumar and three others, held as hostage by him for the past 22 days.

Official emissary and Nakkeeran editor R R Gopal, who ventured into the deep jungles Saturday night, might have met the brigand but was yet to send a word confirming the meeting, A Kamaraj, associate editor of the magazine told PTI.

'He (Gopal) might have met Veerappan. We are waiting anxiously to hear from him. But he is likely to take another day to establish contact with us,' Kamaraj said.

Gopal had set out for the forests on Thursday from here to convey the responses of the two governments to Veerappan's demands.
