India to launch two satellites next year: PTI

E-Mail this report to a friend

Union Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi Sunday said India will launch two satellites next year.

"These satellites will help augmenting the present transmission facility and also weather information," Joshi told reporters at the Indore press club.

India will soon send its scientists to the moon, he said.

Joshi said the bio-technology department is developing a malaria vaccine and its results will be known soon.

India and the United Sates have formed a joint science forum in July this year and representation and financial contributions to this forum will be on an equal basis and its headquarters will be in India, the minister said.

The government would soon set up a bio-technology centre in India with the help of Russia, he said adding that computer centres will also be set up in the country as a part of the agreement.

The country is also working on a scheme with Germany to explore the wealth of sea and also developing an instrument which will explore the sea at the depth of 2000 meters, Joshi said.
