Four of family shot dead in J&K: AFP

E-Mail this report to a friend

Militants shot dead four Hindu villagers in Kashmir, police officials told AFP Sunday.

Police said the attack occurred overnight in Indeh village in Udhampur, some 120 kilometers north of Jammu.

"Five gunmen entered the village and knocked on Mir Chand's door. When he answered, they shot him at point-blank range. Then they opened fire with AK-47 assault rifles on the rest of Chand's sleeping family," the officer in the police control room told AFP.

"Four people died on the spot and one lady was injured in the attack," said the officer. "Chand's family was not involved in any dispute so we suspect it was a militant attack."
