Four top LTTE leaders killed in Lankan air raid

Four leaders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam were among several guerillas killed when Sri Lankan Air Force jets bombed Tiger locations north of Chalai in Mullaithivu on Tuesday.

An official release said ground attack aircraft bombed several locations during the day on Tuesday. The LTTE announced the death of senior leader Palaniraj and three junior LTTE leaders in the attack. According to monitored LTTE transmission, many cadres were killed in the bombing.

In eastern Trincomalee, the Sri Lankan Navy engaged and destroyed a Tiger craft that was moving suspiciously towards sea off Coral Point.

The release said three terrorists were killed in encounters with security forces in Jaffna and Mannar. A large quantity of arms and ammunitions were also recovered from those killed.
