TADA court allows Sanjay Dutt to go abroad

E-Mail this report to a friend

A Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act court in Bombay has allowed film star Sanjay Dutt, accused in the serial blast trial, to go abroad from August 24 to October 10 for live stage shows.

Designated Judge Pramod Kode permitted Dutt to visit the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada on condition that he would not misuse liberty, refrain from raising any grievance in regard to the trial and stay only in the hotels listed by him in the schedule presented to the court.

Dutt agreed to abide by the conditions and promised to appear before the court within 48 hours if required, his counsel Farhana Shah said.

The shows titled 'Wanted Live' are being arranged by film producers and directors Ali Morani and Sunil Soorma. Besides Dutt, other stars accompanying him are Shah Rukh Khan, Namrata Shirodkar, Sushmita Sen, Juhi Chawla and Johnny Lever.

The judge considered Dutt's plea on the ground that he had in the past never misused freedom or infringed any bail condition. He noted that the accused should not be put to any unnecessary hardship.

In his absence, the actor will be represented by his lawyers Shah and Satish Maneshinde.
