Laloo has to apply for fresh bail in assets case

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav is likely to apply for fresh bail in the disproportionate assets case Thursday.

The three-month interim bail granted to Yadav by Patna high court expires then.

Legal sources say that unlike in the animal husbandry case, in which the Supreme Court automatically gives bail every three months, Justice Shashank Kumar Singh gave provisional bail with certain conditions.

Among other things the judge asked Laloo not to speak anything against the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Legal sources said they expect bail to be extended as he had followed the court's instructions.

The task of criticising the CBI seems to have been given to the party's national spokesman Shivanand Tiwary. He recently flayed not only the CBI but also the Patna high court and the state's accountant general.
