Jharkhand parties merge

E-Mail this report to a friend

A section of the Jharkhand Peoples Party has formally merged with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Munda and floated the Jharkhand Vikas Party.

The merger took place at a joint meeting of the JMM-M and the JPP yesterday.

The new party has adopted the ''axe'' as its symbol while the colour of its flag would be green. A 51-member committee was also constituted to prepare the party's constitution.

It was decided at the meeting to delve into the possibilities of a ''grand alliance'' with the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal but maintain distance from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Soren.
