Arrest warrants issued against Laloo, RabriCentral Bureau of Investigation special judge S K Lal today ordered issuance of arrest warrants against Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her husband and former chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav in the disproportionate assets case. Delivering his judgement in a packed court room, the judge observed that there was prima facie evidence submitted by the investigating agency against the couple which, he said, was sufficient to take cognisance of the case. A copy of the judgment was not made available today. Even CBI authorities could not procure the order of the judgment. Earlier in the day, the CBI filed chargesheets against Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her husband, Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav in connection with the disproportionate assets case. CBI counsel L R Ansari submitted the chargesheet this morning in the special CBI court of Justice S K Lal. The CBI has made the chief minister an accused in the disproportionate assets case when she was not holding office. The agency had filed a first information report against her and Yadav on August 19, 1998. On March 8 last, the investigating agency had sought Governor Vinod Chandra Pande's permission to file chargesheets against the two in connection with the case. The CBI had said that Yadav had amassed property worth more than Rs 42,52,000 between 1990 and 1996. Our correspondent adds from Delhi that the Congress spokesperson Ajit Jogi said his party will take a decision on withdrawing support to the Rabri Devi government only after a certified copy of the judgment was made available.
