Five terrorists, including two Pakistani infiltrators, and two army jawans were among 10 persons killed in the Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours.

A report from Baramulla district said an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in the woods of Rafiabad this afternoon.

Two terrorists and two soldiers were killed in the encounter. The firing was continuing when reports last came in.

An official spokesman said terrorists entered the house of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat at Achabal and fired upon the inmates, killing a woman. Another body was recovered in Charkansa last evening.

The two Pakistanis were killed when they sneaked in from Pak-occupied Kashmir this morning.

In a separate incident, terrorists attacked a Border Security Force patrol at Pattan, on the Srinagar-Uri road, today. The BSF jawans retaliated, but there was no report of any casualties.

Security forces also killed a foreign terrorist during a search operation at Kupwara last evening. A bomb exploded in a house at Bandipora early this morning, but no one was hurt.

Terrorists and security forces exchanged fire at Pulwama last evening, killing one person. The extremists, however, managed to escape.
