Three persons including a militant were killed and 12 others injured in the Kashmir valley during the past 24 hours.

Security forces captured three militants and recovered arms and ammunition including five AK rifles, five detonators, four packets of explosive, nine magazines and more than 300 rounds across the valley in overnight operations.

An official spokesman said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a security force vehicle near Achabal bus stand in south Kashmir Thursday evening. It missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside injuring 12 persons, four of them critically.

Militants fired rockets towards a police post in Chaudhary-Nar late Thursday night. However, no damage was caused.

The spokesman said about 12 security personnel had a narrow escape when a landmine planted by militants exploded seconds after their vehicle crossed Sheeri in Baramulla around 1100 hours on Friday.

He said security forces killed one militant during a search operation at Kashtigarh last evening. One AK rifle and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militant.

In Bandipora, militants shot dead Mohammad Hussain Bhat while the body of Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on October 27, was recovered from Khushipora in Anantnag Friday night.
