Kargil compensation cheques bounced, LS told

Vilas Muttemwar (Congress) alleged during zero hour in the Lok Sabha today that the cheques given to the widows and dependents of some defence personnel who laid down their lives in Kargil had bounced.

It was a matter of regret and shame that the cheques received by the widows of some of the Kargil heroes, including Paramjit Kaur whose husband was attached to the Sikh Infantry, had bounced.

She was given a cheque for Rs 100,000. She had not been successful in getting compensation after running from pillar to post, he added.
