BJP joins Goa govt

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bharatiya Janata Party today joined the Francisco Sardinha government.

This is the first time in Goa's history that the BJP finds a berth in the state government.

The three BJP members who joined the Sardinha government are Digamber Kamat (Margao), Dr Suresh Amonkar (Pale) and Prakash Phadte (Mayem), the party's state president.

Governor Lieutenant General J F R Jacob administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers, who chose Konkani, Hindi and Marathi to take the oath.

Though the chief minister is yet to allocate the departments, a top government source said, ''The BJP would get power, education and health.''
