E-Mail this report to a friend

Four army personnel, including a captain, and six militants were killed in three different incidents in the Kashmir valley today.

Official sources said militants detonated a powerful improvised explosive device at Nehalpora Pattan near an army camp at about 1030 hours today. Three army personnel were killed on the spot and three others critically wounded in the blast.

The area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the blast. No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility.

Two militants were killed when an encounter took place between a group of militants and security forces at Qazigund in Anantnag district this morning. An army captain Sulesh Pillia also lost his life in the exchange of fire, sources said.

In the third incident security forces gunned down four militants in a fierce encounter at Faheen village in Kulgam tehsil of Pulwama district today.
