President begins Bombay visit tomorrowPresident K R Narayanan will dedicate to the nation the state-of-the-art Shanmukhananda Hall in central Bombay on Thursday in the presence of a host of outstanding artistes of international repute. Narayanan will arrive in Bombay on a two-day visit on Wednesday to attend a series of programmes including the dedication of the hall which was razed in a fire nine years ago. The President, who would be accompanied by his wife Usha Narayanan would also inaugurate a new multi-purpose theatre at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The President will arrive by a special aircraft at the Chattrapati Shivaji domestic airport on Wednesday at 1220 hours, where he would be received by Governor Dr P C Alexander and Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh among others. Top government and defence officials would also be present. From the airport, the President will proceed to the Raj Bhavan, where he would be staying for the next couple of days. On Wednesday the President will inaugurate the multipurpose theatre at 1715 hours. On Thursday, he will dedicate to the nation the Shanmukhananda Hall at 1930 hours and also attend a cultural programme. Before arriving at the Shanmukhananda Hall the President would also be unveiling a statue of Rajni Patel and attend a programme at the Nehru Centre.
