E-Mail this report to a friend

At least three persons were injured and some vehicles damaged in a powerful blast just outside the headquarters of the ruling National Conference at Zero Bridge in Srinagar today. Official sources said that militants detonated a powerful improvised explosive device planted in a scooter just outside the ruling party's headquarters at around 1120 hours today.

They said three pedestrians were injured and some parked vehicles damaged in the blast which also shattered the window panes of the nearby building housing Doordarshan and All India Radio. Sources said the injured were admitted to a hospital.

This is the second blast in Srinagar during the past 24 hours. Yesterday the editor of the daily Afaaq and his family members had a narrow escape when an explosive device hurled from outside exploded in their kitchen at Balgarden causing extensive damage to the house.
