MCC butchers family in Palamau

E-Mail this report to a friend

Suspected Maoist Communist Centre extremists butchered all twelve members of a family belonging to a minority community near Lotwa village in the Naxalite-dominated Palamau district on Tuesday night, according to delayed reports received in Patna today.

State Director General of Police K A Jacob said that the family was residing at an isolated place near a jungle about two kilometres from the village and were reportedly supporters of the Peoples War Group, the MCC's rival.

Jacob said rivalry between the extremist factions led to the incident. He said the report of the incident was received late. This was the only family residing at the isolated place which falls in the Chattarpur police station area. The victims included seven children and three women.

He said senior police officials were camping at the spot along with additional reinforcements and an intensive search was on to nab the culprits. The DGP along with other senior officials also left for the spot during the day.
