Five new governors soon: PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said the decision on the appointment of governors of five states including West Bengal and Bihar will be taken soon.

Talking to newspersons this morning at the Delhi airport, back from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Durban, he said, ''A decision on the appointment of governors would be taken at the earliest.''

Vacancies for governors in five states either already exist or due to fall vacant in due course of time. According to reports, there is a move to shift some governors.

The prime minister evaded all questions relating to Uttar Pradesh and said he had no idea about developments there.
