Clinton likely to visit India early next year: CelesteUnited States President Bill Clinton is likely to arrive in India in the early part of next year, US Ambassador to India Richard Celeste said today. ''A formal announcement in this regard will be made in Washington,'' he said during an informal chat with reporters in Bombay. He was in the city to attend the US Investment Summit: The Progressive West, which features five states -- Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa. To a query about the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, the ambassador stated that the US is keenly interested in non-proliferation. ''I am confident that the leadership in the country will sign the CTBT,'' he said. He also said that the emerging situation in Pakistan will not have any affect on Indo-US relations. ''With India we want focussed relations,'' he said and added that the US wants democracy to be restored in Pakistan. UNI
