Views expressed by NDA constituents on clemency
to Rajiv killers are their own: Karunanidhi

E-Mail this report to a friend

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi today said the demand of some constituents of the ruling National Democratic Alliance for clemency to the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi was their personal opinion.

Speaking to newsmen at the airport in Madurai today, he said: "Support for Rajiv killers' clemency appeal is not the NDA's official position on the issue. The killing of Rajiv Gandhi was a heinous crime and could not be justified," he added.

Karunanidhi, whose party is a constituent of the NDA, had recently expressed his views against capital punishment.
