Panun Kashmir launches signature campaign in Bombay

E-Mail this report to a friend

Kashmiri Pandits have urged the Union government to take concrete steps to rehabilitate them.

A 15-day signature campaign was launched in Bombay yesterday as part of the programme to garner mass support for their cause.

Talking to UNI, Ashok Pandit, the western Maharashtra convenor of Panun Kashmir, said the recent attack on the army headquarters at Badami Bagh was a testimony to the sinister designs of Pakistan in Kashmir. He said a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits would call on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and apprise him of their feelings through a memorandum.

So far, about 35,000 signatures had been received, Pandit said.

He said the Kashmiri Pandits once formed 15 per cent of the population in Kashmir, but today there are hardly any Kashmiri Pandits left in the valley.
